iStopOver – Save By Renting House Space

March 25, 2009 · Filed Under Articles, Sites · 2 Comments

Rather than leasing hotels or apartments, iStopOver.com gives you the traveler a way to rent a space in people’s houses and apartments, at an average much better rate. House owners could also make extra money from their unused extra space by listing and renting it. While this may seem like a cheap way to spend the vacation, the look of some of the house listings are quite amazing, with various photos and a map location as well. Heck, some even list Wifi and free long distance calls (however they can manage to do that). The site seems still a bit new, so it’s low on the amount of listings and more on the reviews. As it grows further, you can even find reviews for the places before renting them, or you can contribute your own.

Hotels.com offering pillowcase with your favorite photo on it

March 11, 2009 · Filed Under Articles, Hotels, News · Comment

Kinda weird, yes. Hotels.com now offers it’s customers the ability to upload or email a photo of anyone or anything (here comes a load of debate and lawsuits I guess), and the company will send over a pillowcase with your photo on it to the hotel you’re staying in. Does that sound fun?

Get your share of Berlin Wall!

March 4, 2009 · Filed Under Attractions, Europe, Hotels, News · Comment

Berlin Wall

The celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall still do not answer my amusement to the Westin Grand Berlin Hotel package offer for it’s visitors, giving them  a chisel and a hammer, to tear down a piece of the Berlin wall as a sevunire. What an awkward yet pretty smart way to celebrate, and give visitors an incentive. A historical piece of the 20 years old fallen wall of Berlin. Booking seats for the package are limited and should be made directly through their Offers Page. The offer which would give you a historic piece of the Berlin Wall starts at EUR 199, and is valid until end of November this year.

One Million Hotel Rooms on Sale in New Zealand and the Pacific Region

February 24, 2009 · Filed Under Articles, Asia, Hotels, News · Comment

Accor Hotels Super Sale

For the dates 24, 25, and 26 of February, participating Accor Asia Pacific hotels are making available one million hotel rooms at very special rates for bookings on dates from 1st April – 31st July. The discounted rate is a pretty smart idea to guarantee early reservations for the upcoming summer season during the economy crisis. An open period would make people hesitate, as opposed to this limited time offer. It’s too early for many I guess however to decide on a short notice.

Countries that will have discounted offers are Australia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. Get your special rate from the Super Sale page.

Home Rental or Swap Vs Hotels

February 4, 2009 · Filed Under Articles · 1 Comment

In the age of the economic crisis, it is becoming more and more important to make saves on your travel, if you can at all afford it. Recently, it has become more popular it seems to swap homes or lease them, rather than swallow the high cost of hotel rooms whichs the extra cost of daily home service, and everything else that goes with it.

I have personally found it both money saving, and more relaxing to lease apartment as we traveled in a small group, bot I guess the option of a house for a larger family would make sense as well.

Read this article by Los Angeles Times about the home swap and rental service, and how does it compare to hotel one.

Hotel Rooms of the Future – As Seen By Germans

February 2, 2009 · Filed Under Attractions, Hotels, News · 1 Comment

A group of German scientists have developed the design of what they believe will be future hotel rooms. Round shaped walls, automatic voice activated room facilities like swinging bed, interactive information system through the room TV, room windows turning into large TV with a snap!

You can see a good quality of the video on BBC site here, or watch the embedded video below.
